Turn on layers for wars and battles, cultural sites, natural landmarks, religious sites and trade routes. Search territories, wars, landmarks and historical figures, then see them in geographical context. FOLLOW 10 GUIDED JOURNEYS Walk in Alexander's footsteps, follow the ancient Nile, explore Rome beyond Rome or trace the Silk Roads. Travel through the Viking Atlantic, across the Sahara, along the Andes, through Japan and into the Pacific, or follow Ibn Battuta's travels. Each journey has five mapped stops with short stories and prompts that connect the history to the landscape. Browse illustrated journeys, filter by region, period or access, and return to your saved progress. TAKE ON 10 MAP CHALLENGES Find ancient landmarks, cities and places around the world. Drop a pin, use a country hint when needed and check how close you came. Each challenge has five rounds, with points, historical explanations and a saved best score to beat. DISCOVER UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Explore 1,273 World Heritage properties with a dedicated map layer. Read about cultural, natural and mixed sites, including their inscription dates. Choose how many pins to display in Settings, including all sites in the visible map area. The World Heritage layer reflects the modern list independently of the historical year selected. KEEP FOLLOWING YOUR CURIOSITY Open Wikipedia articles inside the app to learn more about the places you discover. Choose a warm light theme or a rich dark theme in Settings. The map is always close at hand, with dedicated tabs for search, journeys and challenges. WHAT'S INCLUDED Ancient and Classical eras through 400 AD, the Alexander journey and the Ancient landmarks challenge are available without a purchase. A one-time in-app purchase unlocks Medieval through Contemporary eras, the other nine journeys and the other nine challenges. No subscription or recurring billing. LANGUAGES AND CONNECTIVITY The interface supports 16 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Hindi, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Polish, Russian and Dutch. Some map descriptions may appear in English where a translation is not yet available. Core historical datasets are bundled; map tiles, updates and Wikipedia articles require an internet connection when loaded. No account is required to browse. Historical borders are simplified snapshots for exploration and learning. HistorIQly Map is an independent app and is not affiliated with UNESCO or Wikipedia.
