Description
Ice Froze Lake: Plan enamel designs, calculate materials and track kiln firings.
Ice Froze Lake is a planning bench for cloisonne enamellers: you wire the plaque, and it works out what the kiln will need.
Choose a plaque. Ice Froze Lake starts you on an oval, and you can switch to a round, shield, drop, tile, cushion or low-domed cabochon in copper, fine silver, fine gold or gilding metal.
Lay the wires. Tap 👆 one edge of a cell, tap the opposite edge, and drag ✋ the middle if the wire should curve. Every wire splits a cell in two, and the numbered cell key under the stage updates as you go.
Trace your own drawing. Photograph a sketch or pick one from your library 📚, set it under the plaque, line it up with two scale pins and fade it with the opacity rail until the wires follow your lines. Remove or replace the photo 📸 at any time ⏱️.
Flood the cells. Pick from 18 enamels (opaque, transparent, opalescent and flux) and Ice Froze Lake gives each cell its area, its depth to the wire top, grams per coat and the number 🔢 of coats to fill it flush.
Check ✅ the counter. A balance ⚖️ beam weighs the front enamel against the counter coats on the back and tells you when the back is light or heavy for the metal you chose.
Follow the firing ladder. Every fire is listed in order, hard enamels before soft, with temperature and minutes adjusted to your own kiln offset. Tick each fire as it comes out.
Read the warnings. Ruby straight on copper, cells too small to pack, long unsupported wire runs and over-fired opalescents are flagged, and each flag opens a page in the fault atlas: ten common faults with what they look like, why ❓ they happen and how to prevent or rescue them.
Ice Froze Lake works fully offline 📴 and keeps every plaque, from first wire to last fire, on your device 📱.
