EPUB Reader - Pagevox

Pagevox is an EPUB and PDF reader that reads your books aloud. Open a book, press play, and the sentence being spoken lights up while the page turns on its own. Put the phone in your pocket and it keeps reading with the screen off. READ ALOUD • Uses the text-to-speech voices on your phone. Only voices that work offline are used, so the book's text stays on the device. • The sentence (and, with most voices, the word) is highlighted as it is read, and the page follows the voice. • Speed from 0.5× to 2.0×, skip forward or back a sentence, or repeat the one you just heard. • Keeps playing with the screen off, with play, pause and skip on the lock screen and in the notification. • Sleep timer: stop after 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Your place is kept. • Choose a voice for each language, and hear a sample first. • Pronunciation dictionary: tell it to say "Hermione" as "her-MY-oh-nee". Only the audio changes, never the page. • Time left at your current speed, in the reader and on the shelf. READ • Table of contents for EPUBs and PDFs, plus "go to page" for PDFs. • Bookmarks, highlights and notes, all listed in one place and exportable as Markdown text. • Appearance for EPUBs: light, sepia or dark theme, text size, typeface (including OpenDyslexic and Accessible DfA), line spacing, and scrolling instead of pages. • Pinch to zoom PDF pages. YOUR BOOKS • Add EPUB and PDF files from your phone with the system file picker, or share them to Pagevox from another app. • Pagevox opens DRM-free files only. Books bought from Kindle or Apple Books are copy-protected and can't be opened; Pagevox tells you so instead of showing a blank page. Password-protected PDFs aren't supported. • Free classics: browse and download public-domain books from Project Gutenberg inside the app, so your shelf is never empty. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account and no sign-up. Your books, bookmarks and notes are stored only on this phone. • Pagevox has no server. The only site the app itself connects to is Project Gutenberg, when you browse or download a free classic. • No storage permission: you choose each file you add. FREE, WITH ONE BANNER Pagevox is free to download and use. It shows a single banner ad at the bottom of the library screen — never while you read or listen. Ads are provided by Google AdMob and never receive your books, titles or notes. A one-time Remove Ads purchase hides the banner.
