Snap, tile and restore windows on Samsung DeX. Keyboard shortcuts, no root.
4Zones tiles windows on Samsung DeX.
Tap a zone, or press a key, and the window you are using snaps into place. Save the apps on a desktop as a workspace, and bring the whole arrangement back whenever you need it.
TILING
• 34 layouts across 10 families: quadrants, halves, thirds, quarters, wide centre, bands, cascade, freeform and full screen.
• Tap a zone on the grid, or use a keyboard shortcut — Alt + Win + 1 to 4 by default, and every key can be changed.
• The zone flashes before the window moves, so you can see where it is going.
DESKTOPS
• Switch desktops with Ctrl + Win + 1 to 4, and add one with Ctrl + Win + =.
• Step to the next or previous desktop with keys you choose.
• See what is open on each desktop, and close one when you have finished with it.
WORKSPACES
• Save the apps on a desktop, and where they sit, as a named workspace.
• Restore it later and 4Zones reopens the apps and puts them back.
• Put a workspace on your launcher as a shortcut. It opens on the screen your pointer is on.
• Export your workspaces, keys and settings to a file, and import them again later.
SETUP, ONCE
Android does not let ordinary apps move other apps' windows, so 4Zones needs one-time setup. No root, no computer, and no second app to install.
• 4Zones pairs with your own device's Wireless debugging, on the device itself. Pairing gives 4Zones the same access a computer has over ADB. 4Zones uses it only to read and arrange your windows and desktops, and you can remove it at any time in Settings > Developer options > Wireless debugging > Paired devices.
• If you already have Shizuku installed, 4Zones uses that instead.
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE
4Zones uses an Android accessibility service for one purpose: to receive its own keyboard shortcuts on a connected keyboard. It does not read the content of your screen or of any app, and it never performs a gesture, tap or swipe for you. Android lists it as able to perform gestures because Samsung DeX otherwise stops delivering shortcuts on an external monitor; 4Zones never uses that. You are asked before it is turned on, you can decline, and the app works without it — tap a zone instead. You can turn it off at any time in Settings > Accessibility.
PRIVACY
• Nothing 4Zones reads or stores is sent anywhere by 4Zones. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server.
• The full policy is at https://mr-biz.uk/privacy
REQUIREMENTS
• Android 12 or later, on a 64-bit ARM device.
• Samsung DeX, on a Galaxy phone or tablet that supports it.
• A keyboard for the shortcuts. Tapping zones works without one.

Build 27 (0.10.24-beta) - B67 only.
A link to an already-open doc used to make the restore give up on that window. Now it claims it and places it.
Test on the CURRENT desk: open the doc first, then restore a workspace containing it.
Won't fire with "Always a new desktop" - separate fix, not in 27.
