Savings group and SACCO records: savings, shares, welfare, loans, statements
Mobi Save keeps the records of savings groups, VSLAs and SACCOs in Uganda, so every member can see their own money any day, not only at the next meeting.
What members see
• Savings, shares and welfare balances in each group they belong to
• Their loans: amount, repayments made and what is due next, and loan requests to the group
• A full statement of every contribution and repayment
• Their member card with its balance and one-time pay codes
• Messages and reminders from the group
• For groups that moved from paper books: "My past records", with a way to report a mistake to the treasurer
Group officers and lenders
• Treasurers and other officers run meetings, receipts and loans on the Mobi Save website; members see the results in the app straight away
• A group can record a loan it took from a lender (for example a microfinance or government programme) with its schedule and every repayment, including cheque and receipt numbers
• The lender's loan officer can sign in to follow the loans given to their groups
Built for trust
• Every amount is kept in double-entry books; a posted record is never edited, only corrected with a reversal that everyone can see
• Members' savings, the group's income and other funds are kept in separate accounts
• Interest, penalties and share limits follow the group's own rules
Mobi Save is record-keeping software. It does not hold your money: your group keeps its cash box, bank or mobile money account as before.
