Vocabulary: Photo Flashcards

Collect words from what you really read. Tap a word in a photo or in text from another app, and it goes into your vocabulary in its dictionary form, with its meaning and the sentence where you met it. Then review it with spaced repetition. COLLECT FROM PHOTOS • Take a photo in the app, pick one from your photos, or share pictures from another app. • The app reads the text in the photo. Tap the words you want, tap again to leave one out, then collect them all at once. • Each word keeps a snippet of the photo with the word marked. COLLECT FROM TEXT • Share text from another app, pick the app in the text selection menu, or paste text. • Tap words in the text the same way, or type a word yourself. • Join the next words to save a phrase such as "give up". DICTIONARY FORM, GRAMMAR AND MEANING • The form you tapped becomes the dictionary form, with a line saying which form it was: ging → gehen, past tense. When a form could come from two words (fui → ir or ser), you choose. • Nouns get their article in a gender color, with m, f or n next to it, and their plural. Verbs get one line of main forms. • Meanings are listed sense by sense, with your sentence above them, so you keep only the senses that fit. They show in your phone's language, or in English when your language has none for that word. You can always write your own meaning. REVIEW WITH YOUR OWN SENTENCES • Spaced repetition: a word you know comes back after a longer gap, a word you miss comes back sooner. • Pick the meaning of the word in your sentence, flip a card, type the missing word into the sentence where you met it, type the word for a meaning, or listen and type. • Review the words you just collected right away, or one group at a time. • A daily review reminder at the time you choose, days in a row and 30 days of stats. Learn more than one and switch between them. • Words and sentences are read aloud by your device's text-to-speech voices, at normal or slower speed. KEEP IT IN ORDER • Sources: every photo and text you collected from, by date. Open one again to pick more words. • Groups for a lesson or a trip. • Import and export words as CSV. A backup file, photos included, moves everything to a new phone. No server and no account. Collecting, dictionary forms, meanings and review all run on your phone, so once your language is set up it works in airplane mode. Every feature is free.
