Sortstep

Sortstep is a hands-on guide to insertion sort. Follow a short number sequence as values are compared, moved and inserted into order, with an explanation for each action. Begin with two bundled examples or enter one to ten whole numbers. Try negative numbers, zero and repeated values to explore how different inputs are sorted. Use Next and Previous to move at your own pace. Tap an array position or the held value to inspect its role, and see the temporary gap and the growing sorted portion. Open Trace to revisit states reached in the current session. Compare before and after views, inspect a change, then return to Steps at the selected state.
