Charlie Charlie Challenge

Charlie, Charlie, are you here? A sheet of paper on a dim desk. A cross drawn in pencil, YES and NO in the corners. Two pencils balanced one on top of the other. Say the words out loud, and wait. This is the Charlie Charlie Challenge, recreated on your phone the way it went around the world: nothing to set up, nothing to explain. Just the desk, the lamp, the paper and the pencils. HOW IT WORKS • Tap the desk to lay the pencils. • Say "Charlie, Charlie, are you here?" out loud. The app listens through the microphone, or you can tap instead. • Nothing happens. Then the top pencil starts to turn. Slowly, with a wobble, the way a balanced pencil really moves, until it points to an answer. • Ask him yes-or-no questions, out loud. The pencil answers each one. • When you are done, say "Charlie, Charlie, can we stop?" and knock the pencils off the paper. Never leave without saying goodbye. WHAT MAKES IT REAL • A desk lit by a single lamp that flickers when he is near. • Creaking wood, breathing in the dark, a graphite scrape as the pencil turns. All the sound is made on your device, with headphones recommended. • The pencil moves with real physics: it hesitates, sticks, slips and settles. • Vibration you can feel through the phone when the pencil moves and when he arrives. • Leave without saying goodbye, and the next visit will not be the same. Your questions are heard by your device's speech recognition and used only in the moment; the app records nothing. Everything works offline. Free, with ads. Watching one to ask more questions is always your choice. For entertainment purposes.
