Your task is to overlap them into one unbroken path of shade, running from the pilgrim's first step all the way to the distant arch. The pilgrim never stops walking. Let a gap of bare salt open beneath those feet and the heat bar starts to fill; let it fill all the way and a life is lost. So you learn to work ahead of the walk — reading which obelisk will cover the next stretch, easing the sun into place before it is needed, then holding it steady while the figure crosses. Sometimes the answer is one long patient drag. Sometimes it is a sharp correction as two shadows drift apart and a bright seam opens right where the next footfall lands. Fifteen levels take the idea apart and rebuild it. Obelisks stand further and further from one another, lean at angles that throw their shade the wrong way, or sit so that the stone you want to use also swallows the shadow you were relying on. Shortening one shadow to lengthen another becomes a real decision, and the sun's position turns into something you plan rather than something you nudge. The whole plain reads at a glance: pale crust, grey-green stone, and the hard edge where shade meets glare. Nothing is hidden and nothing is rushed. You can sit with a single level for as long as you like, turning the light a few degrees at a time, watching the colour of the plain shift as the sun travels and the geometry quietly rearranges itself.
