Encode and decode secret messages with classic ciphers — Morse, Caesar and more.
Long before passwords and encryption keys, people hid messages with pen, paper and a little cleverness — and those classic methods are still the most fun way to understand how secret writing works. Cryptolab is a hands-on lab for exactly that: type a message, pick a cipher, and watch it transform in real time, then flip a single switch to turn the secret back into plain text.
It covers the classics properly. Shift letters with a Caesar wheel and, if you're trying to crack one, let the app show all twenty-six shifts at once. Lock a message with a Vigenère keyword, flip the alphabet with Atbash, weave letters along a rail fence, or turn words into numbers with A1Z26. And the visual codes are shown the way they're meant to be seen — Morse as dots and dashes you can flash across the screen, semaphore as little flag-waving figures, Braille as raised six-dot cells, and tap code on its grid — each with a reference chart so you can read them anywhere.
Every cipher comes with a short, plain-language "how it works" page and a small animated example — the Caesar ring turning, the rail fence zig-zagging into place — so you're never just pushing buttons; you actually learn the method. When you're ready to test yourself, a set of challenges asks you to decode a message, spot which cipher was used, or encode a word to a target, tracking your best score as you go. Anything worth keeping can be saved with its cipher settings and decoded again later.
Choose your accent theme, set the Morse flash speed, switch between English and Norwegian, and tinker away completely offline — no account, no ads, nothing leaving your device. Whether you're a puzzle lover, a teacher, or a kid passing notes, Cryptolab makes the old art of hidden messages genuinely playable.
