Memorise your opening repertoire with spaced repetition. Offline, no ads.
Debuto helps you learn your chess opening repertoire by heart. The app plays your opponent's move and you find the reply from your repertoire. Positions you know come back less and less often; positions you miss come back the next day. Everything stays on your device: it works without an internet connection, with no account and no ads.
REPERTOIRE
• A repertoire for each colour: a move tree with branching lines; the same position reached by two move orders counts as one position
• Sections by branching point, indented rows, opening name and ECO code
• Status for every line: New, Today, in N days or Learned; filter by All, Due or New
• Add and edit lines by playing the moves for both colours on the board
• Three sample repertoires included: 1. e4 and the Italian Game, the Sicilian Najdorf and the Queen's Gambit Declined; they are yours to edit or delete, and can be added again
PRACTICE WITH SPACED REPETITION
• Today's review: the most overdue positions first, with an estimated time
• New lines: choose how many new lines arrive each day; the correct move is shown the first time
• My mistakes: positions you got wrong, asked again the next day
• Practise a single line whenever you like
• The interval grows each time you are right (1 → 3 → 8 → 20 days …); a position found with a hint does not get a longer interval
WHEN A MOVE IS NOT IN YOUR REPERTOIRE
• The correct move is marked on the board
• If your move is a known continuation from the opening list, it is named and can be added to your repertoire with one tap
• Two-step hint, Show move, step through the moves, flip the board
OPENINGS
• 3,865 openings and variations from the Lichess opening list (public domain, CC0) come with the app
• Search by ECO code, name or moves; filter by ECO letter; see which openings are already in your repertoire
• Add an opening to a repertoire or open it on the board
• Opening family names are translated; variation names keep the source's English
MOVES
• Drag, tap two squares, use the keyboard, or type the move (piece letters in your language, piece symbols, or e2e4)
• Letters or figurine notation; four board colours; coordinates; move sounds generated on the device
PROGRESS
• Learned positions, today's review, this week's reviews and accuracy, day streak
• Chart of the last 14 days and the learned share of each repertoire
FILES AND SHARING
• Import PGN from a file or by pasting: several games, variations in brackets become separate lines
• Save or share a repertoire as PGN, with its variations
• Save all repertoires and progress as a .debuto file and open it on another device
• Back up and restore
