Monod Bioreactor Designer

Monod Bioreactor Designer is a calculation tool for designing and analysing microbial fermentation processes, built on Monod kinetics and mass-balance stoichiometry. FEATURES • Batch simulation: follow growth, substrate and product concentration over time for a batch culture. • Continuous operation (chemostat): calculate the equilibrium state at a given dilution rate, with oxygen transfer (kLa), temperature, pressure and salinity as independent parameters. • Continuous dynamics: simulate how the system approaches (or moves away from) equilibrium over time after a change in operating conditions. • Stoichiometry: solve the cell-growth reaction equation and find the coefficients for oxygen consumption, CO2 and water production from the biomass's elemental composition. • Custom organism profiles: create, edit and save your own parameter sets (biological parameters, operating/environmental parameters, stoichiometry and starting values) under a name of your choice - e.g. for a specific strain or experimental setup. Candida utilis and E. coli are included as locked default profiles. • PDF export of results, ready to share or archive. • Built-in user guide explaining the models and parameters. The app is built for microbiologists, biotechnologists, process engineers, and others who need quick, transparent estimates in the early stages of process design - not as a replacement for validated process models in production. The free version allows 3 model runs per day. A one-time upgrade removes this limit and unlocks PDF export.
